2950 Fahrenheit—No Match for Pixim-Powered Cameras
Speco and Pixim solve steel mill’s ultimate lighting challenge
Rob Irwin had the ultimate challenge for a video camera—recording and monitoring a room that goes from dark to as bright as the sun in a matter of seconds. As melt shop electrical supervisor for Severstal, the fourth largest steelmaker in the United States, he needed to find a camera that could continuously monitor the mill’s huge electric arc furnace (EAF).
Intelligent Video Powered by Pixim® Technology Keeps City Streets Safe and Secure
Birmingham is the largest city in the state of Alabama, spanning 151 square miles and boasting a downtown population of nearly 230,000. Like any major city, Birmingham has its share of crime and vandalism. To help combat this and provide a safe environment for residents and visitors alike, the city has taken a number of measures including provisioning the installation of 40 video surveillance cameras throughout the metropolitan area.
Honeywell Introduces New Pixim-Powered Camera
Honeywell’s latest addition to their camera line, the HD3U employs Pixim’s Digital Pixel System® technology, the only all-digital video capture technology in the industry. The HD3U delivers higher quality images, significantly better dynamic range (120 dB max), and more accurate color than conventional CCD cameras in varied lighting conditions.
The HD3U day/night camera is designed for cost-effective installations that require the highest image quality possible where light conditions are less than optimal. The camera is the best choice for indoor applications including retail stores, banks, ATMs, lobbies, atriums, vestibules, foyers, warehouses, and schools.
The integrated camera features a solid polycarbonate housing and a thick, clear polycarbonate dome cover and dome liner. Its one-piece, compact surface mount design allows for fast, easy installation to a ceiling or wall. The 3-D axis gimbal allows versatile positioning and instant centering of the video image. Seven wide dynamic range (WDR) presets allow quick and easy setup for various applications such as ATMs, loading docks, lobbies, and scenes with intense glare from spotlights or vehicle headlights.
