PIXIM AND NUVATION ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP TO DELIVER CUSTOMIZATION SERVICES FOR TCP/IP CAMERAS
Hardware and Software Customization Services Now Available for Nuvation's Wide Dynamic Range, Low Power IP Camera Reference Design Based on Pixim's Orca Chipset
Mountain View, Calif.—(MARKET WIRE)—September 12, 2006— Pixim, Inc and Nuvation Research Corporation announced today their partnership and the immediate availability of hardware and software customization services for a TCP/IP Camera Reference Design, featuring Pixim's Orca advanced imaging chipset and various video compression and processing options. This Linux-based, 30 fps, streaming D1 resolution TCP/IP camera, features ultra-wide dynamic range, a small form factor and low power consumption with Ethernet, analog video and USB 2.0 interfaces.
The TCP/IP Camera Reference Design incorporates Pixim's latest DPS technology, the Orca chipset, to achieve all-digital superior picture quality, delivering excellent images in both normal and WDR scenes in any lighting conditions, 24/7. Pixim's image consistency and accuracy overcomes typical impediments of existing analog CCD technologies to provide positive subject identification caused by variable lighting and limited color accuracy.
Pixim chipsets combine impressive and powerful features that include excellent low light performance (0.5 lux in color), wide dynamic range (120dB max), a progressive scan imager with global shutter that minimizes motion artifacts and reduces compression bit rates, and high Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) even at high temperature.
"We are very pleased to be able to offer design acceleration services to the video security industry with Pixim's leading image capture solution," remarks Michael Worry, CEO of Nuvation. "Intelligent cameras and video analytics are increasing demand for wide dynamic range and high-resolution image capture. Our Pixim-based reference design is a perfect fit for these types of applications."
The Nuvation Pixim camera is a turnkey design, incorporating customizable CODEC options. Customers can choose from a variety of video compression formats, including H.263, H.264, MJPEG, MPEG1, MPEG2, and MPEG4. The in-camera CPU is an ARM9 microprocessor running an embedded Linux operating system. The TCP/IP reference camera can be configured with a DSP board option as well, enabling a wide range of video compression and analytics features. Visit
