COSHIP'S PIXIM-POWERED WIDE DYNAMIC RANGE SECURITY CAMERAS ARE BEING INSTALLED ON THOUSANDS OF BUSES IN SHENZHEN, CHINA

Cameras designed to promote safety and prevent theft by providing clear images of everyone who enters and exits the city buses

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.June 3, 2008— Pixim® Inc., a leading provider of image sensors and processors for enterprise security cameras, announced that Coship Day/Night Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) Dome Cameras, featuring the award-winning Pixim® Digital Pixel System® technology, are being installed on Shenzhen Transit Group’s fleet of city buses.  Already, approximately 2,000 Shenzhen buses have installed the Coship cameras, which are based on Pixim’s mobile Orca D1400 chipset.

“It’s estimated that 70 percent of Shenzhen’s nearly 8.5 million residents choose the bus as their primary mode of transportation, making it imperative that the buses remain safe for both passengers and drivers,” said Yuhua Pi, Market Technology Department Manager of the Security Business Unit of Coship Electronics.  “The most important place to capture clear images of people is at the door, where everyone enters and exits the bus – and this is also the most challenging location, due to the extremely variable lighting conditions.  Pixim’s Digital Pixel System technology and mobile chipset cameras are by far the best for providing the image quality needed by Shenzhen buses.”

The Shenzhen buses use Coship CS66-52CT WDR Dome Cameras with Pixim’s mobile Orca D1400 chipsets.  These compact Coship cameras include anti-teardown, alarm-trigger, audio output models.

Mobile and other environments that experience vibration create a real challenge for makers of security cameras, because shaking breaks anything that moves mechanically, including DC Iris and other auto-iris lenses.  Pixim has the only wide dynamic range chip technology that does not require a DC Iris lens.  Additionally, the Pixim D1400 chipset delivers an uncomplicated “fix, focus, forget” operation for cameras, a critical feature for embedded cameras in security situations – e.g., on buses – where it is not possible or desirable to adjust camera settings after initial installation.

“The Shenzhen bus system is an ideal application for Pixim’s D1400 mobile chipset, and we are pleased to be part of such an enormous camera installation,” said John Monti, vice president of marketing and business development, Pixim.  “We look forward to working with Coship as they build on their success in Shenzhen, with plans to install Pixim-powered security cameras on more than 10,000 additional buses in other Chinese cities in 2008.”

About Pixim

Pixim Inc. has developed an imaging technology that revolutionizes the way video cameras capture and process images.  Unlike traditional cameras, where each pixel cannot adjust to highlights and lowlights in the same scene, Pixim’s patented Digital Pixel System® technology empowers hundreds of thousands of pixels to act like individual cameras constantly self-adjusting.  This all-digital system enables Pixim-powered cameras to efficiently capture the whole picture, regardless of lighting condition or application – thus securing the highest resolution, natural color and clarity, while automatically eliminating image-compromising visual noise (e.g., glare, reflections).  The result is more than superb image quality; it is accurate, actionable information that gives users the strength of certainty.

Pixim chipsets are incorporated into more than 200 security camera models that ship to more than 70 countries worldwide.  Visit www.pixim.com/cameras for a complete listing of Pixim-based cameras.  For general information, visit www.pixim.com or call Pixim’s headquarters in Mountain View, Calif., at (650) 605-1107.
